CapitalStar Systems StarExchange User Guides Context: CapitalStar Systems' StarExchange is a hybrid electronic/ voice-trading platform available to interbanking brokers who want to host a trading environment for buy- and sell-side traders. StarExchange features four distinct user types and employs interrelated functionality sets in which each user type can perform tasks specifically permissioned for that user type. StarExchange user types include an administrator who operates via a stand-alone administrative application, and three user types who operate via a trading application. They are the buy-side trader, the sell-side trader, and the account manager who monitors system use and assists clients. Administrators and account managers are employees of the system host; sell-side and buy-side traders are clients of the system host. The administrator is responsible for setting up all aspects of the system including system users, tradeable instruments, instrument parameters, market quote pages and credit relationships between buy- and sell-side trading entities, all of which must be done in a particular sequence in the administrative application. The remaining user types - buy-side trader, sell-side trader, and account manager - interact with one another using StarExchange's quote pages, trading, liquidity discovery and task approval capabilities. Each of these user types is explicitly permissioned for specific tasks in each of the interactive functions and cannot perform tasks assigned to the other client types (with the exception of those tasks for which the account manager can act on behalf of clients). |
